MRS. INDIRA GANDHI (1917-1934)
Mrs. Indira Gandhi was our first woman Prime Minister. Her name was a house hold word. She was a great daughter of a great father. She was born on 19th November 19l7. She had her education in India and Europe. She got her political training under Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru. She became the Prime Minister of this country in 1906. 197l and 1980.
Under her Prime Ministership. she solved many problems at home and abroad. She nationalised l4 major banks. She brought Green Revolution. She abolished Privy Purses .Bangla Desh was her creation. She defeated Pakistan in lndo Pak War. India was at peace with all the major countries of the world. India progressed by leaps and bounds under her. She earned a great name for this country.
She was courageous, fearless, bold and brave. She was a patriot through and through. She was the champion of the poor and the downtrodden. Hcr Twenty Point Programme is a new hope for the teeming millions of India. The people had a great faith in her. She worked for the betterment of this country day and night.
It was 3lst October, 1984 It was a blackday. Mrs. Gandhi was assassinated. Two midless persons pumped l6 shots in her body. The news of her death spread. like a wildfire. She died so that India might be strong and stable. She died a martyr‘s death.
We should hang our head in shame. We are killers.We are coward. We killed a noble soul. Who gave her all for this country.
She shed the last drop of her blood for the beloved country.
